DeFi Wraps TradFi. A year ago, Morgan Stanley's 15,000 financial advisors couldn't recommend a single Bitcoin product to clients. Now the firm has the market's cheapest spot Bitcoin ETF and Goldman is filing for one. Schwab is building a crypto trading desk. Legal & General is bringing $68 billion in money market funds on-chain. And the S&P 500 trades 24/7 on a decentralized exchange. The question we keep coming back to: who ends up owning this infrastructure — the banks who own the clients, or the chains that can settle anything at 3am on a Sunday? The TradFi wrapperMorgan Stanley's spot Bitcoin ETF, MSBT, pulled in more than $100 million in its first week. This has been the firm's most successful ETF launch to date, priced at 0.14% annually, and the first spot Bitcoin ETF issued by a major US bank. Even so, it is far from the biggest. BlackRock's IBIT crossed $1 billion in inflows within its first week of trading in January 2024 and has since accumulated over $65 billion in total net inflows. MSBT is on track for over $7 billion this year. SourceSource: Morgan Stanley Client Assets, GeminiMorgan Stanley’s wealth management network oversees trillions of dollars in client assets. It’s a channel for investors who would never open a Coinbase account, but will buy an ETF through their existing advisor. Wall Street firms travel in packs, and we saw Goldman Sachs file for its own Bitcoin ETF within days of MSBT’s launch.SourceCharles Schwab also confirmed it remains on track to launch spot Bitcoin and Ethereum trading in the first half of 2026, via its Charles Schwab Premier Bank unit. Schwab manages $12 trillion in client assets across 39MM active brokerage accounts. Importantly, it famously drove stock trading commissions to zero in 2019.Will it do the same to crypto? This is particularly relevant as the fee gap with native crypto exchanges is significant Coinbase Advanced charges makers up to 0.40% and takers up to 0.60%Gemini charges a flat 1.49% on basic orders If Schwab applies its equities pricing to crypto, the compression on native exchange margins could be significant, particularly when considering the cost of acquiring these assets directly on-chain. The ETF, the custody account, the brokerage interface, these are all wrappers that distribute product. They are the store that sell the sandwiches, the sandwiches being financial products. The incumbents are competing to own the client relationship, and the underlying asset is incidental to that contest. The Perpetual TradeDeFi is running the same play in reverse, pulling traditional assets onto the chain rather than wrapping crypto into brokerage accounts. On March 18, S&P Dow Jones Indices licensed the S&P 500 to Trade[XYZ] to launch the first officially licensed perpetual derivative contract based on the index, trading on Hyperliquid. Earlier attempts relied on synthetic pricing. This contract runs on institutional-quality index data from the source, and S&P DJI powers trillions in ETF and index fund assets globally. That data provenance is what institutional confidence follows.SourceHIP-3 is Hyperliquid’s framework for permissionless perpetual futures on tokenized equities and commodities, where builders spin up new markets by staking HYPE. Open interest hit a record $2.38 billion last week, up roughly 580% year-to-date from around $280 million at the start of the year — crossing $1 billion within the first month. TradeXYZ accounts for over 90% of that. We’d watch the $5 billion mark. At that level, HIP-3 starts generating enough volume and liquidity to attract the market makers who currently operate on CME and CBOE.A note: this product is currently restricted to eligible non-US investors, so it won’t compete with Morgan Stanley or Schwab for the time being. As of the week of the S&P announcement, only seven of the top 30 markets on Trade[XYZ] by open interest were crypto pairs. The rest were tokenized or synthetic versions of commodities and equity indexes, like oil, gold, silver, and now the S&P 500. The crude oil contract alone saw $1.7 billion in peak daily volume and $300 million in open interest, driven in large part by CME traders who found they could trade oil on weekends during the Iran conflict when conventional markets were closed.Source.When a major macro event breaks on a Saturday, traditional exchanges are shut. On-chain perpetuals aren’t. All of a sudden, all of our equities and commodities are digitally native and globally available.Where This ConvergesMorgan Stanley, Goldman, and Schwab are wrapping crypto into existing brokerage infrastructure. Hyperliquid is absorbing equities and commodities into on-chain settlement — oil, gold, the S&P 500, all trading 24/7 without intermediaries. Only three of the top ten markets on Hyperliquid by volume are crypto pairs. Traditional finance volumes are arriving on-chain and will increasingly make up the bulk of blockchain activity.Morgan Stanley still has its clients. S&P DJI still licenses its index. But the S&P 500 now trades on a decentralised blockchain at 3am on a Sunday. How long before someone asks why the NYSE doesn’t? While you can find GPUs in every cloud provider offer, the TPUs are currently only available through Google Cloud Platform. Situation when you invest in a technology or a service that is not available anywhere else is called vendor lock-in — it's something the sales people love, while customers try to avoid it. What does this look like for TPUs? Let's see. Myth 5: TPUs are available only through Google Cloud Platform As of today (December 12th, 2025) it is still true that TPUs are available only through Google Cloud Platform. If you develop your application to work specifically with the TPU technology, leverage all its strong sides and account for all the limitations, moving to a different provider would be a big challenge. Luckily, as you may remember from the first myth busting post, GPUs can do everything that TPUs do. They may not be as efficient for a given task, scaling might be different or limited, but in a lot of cases, a move from TPU to a GPU is possible and much easier than the other way around. Technically, when you decide to use TPUs, you are limited to GCP as your provider, that is true. However, leaving TPUs to use GPUs is not an impossible task. Unless you make use of the TPUs amazing scaling capabilities, a migration to GPUs and a different provider is always an option. Myth 6: TPUs require unique software The first TPUs were developed together with the TensorFlow library. Back in 2018 when Google released the first TPUs to their customers, it was indeed the case that your application written for TPUs would not be compatible with other accelerators. Luckily, over the years since then, the software landscape has changed dramatically. Many abstraction layers were added and support for TPUs is now present in popular software solutions. For example the JAX library — it supports TPUs, GPU and CPUs alike. The situation is especially easy when it comes to inferencing. vLLM supports plenty of models on TPUs as well as on GPUs. Similarly, MaxText can handle both accelerator types out of the box. If you're looking for a platform to run your models, it's a great idea to give TPUs a try, as jumping between the accelerator platforms has never been easier. What's next? In the next post, I will dive into more technical aspects of TPUs and their supporting systems. After all, the efficiency of an AI system is not dependent only on its accelerator speed. Networking and storage are also very important and while storage is pretty much the same for TPU systems as it is for GPU systems, networking is a lot more complicated. Stay tuned for the next article and keep an eye on the official Google Cloud blog and GCP YouTube channel!
goog
["goog
In addition to new features for Google’s new music production tool, ProducerAI is already getting a name change to Google Flow Music. more…
goog
2592899987445341059
Google Slashes Canadian Prices on Pixel 10 and Pixel Watch in Spring Sale
https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/2026/04/20/google-slashes-canadian-prices-on-pixel-10-and-pixel-watch-in-spring-sale/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=google-slashes-canadian-prices-on-pixel-10-and-pixel-watch-in-spring-sale
["goog
Google recently launched a fresh set of spring discounts on its latest hardware lineup, offering decent savings for Canadians looking to upgrade their smartphones and more. Fans and peers have wished him a speedy recovery after he shared updates on Instagram. Billy Strings' injury has been confirmed following a skateboarding accident on Saturday. The American bluegrass artist shared a graphic X-ray on Instagram revealing a broken tibia and fibula sustained in a skateboarding fall that cut short his concert over the weekend. The incident occurred backstage at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia, moments before his encore performance. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Billy Strings (@billystrings) Injury and Aftermath Strings reportedly attempted a kickflip while skateboarding towards the stage between songs but lost his balance and fell heavily on the pavement. The accident resulted in a broken leg, though Strings managed to get up and leave the stage. pic.twitter.com/dFzKbKRWCK— Boobie Dixon (@Boobie26v4) April 19, 2026 Crew members assisted him into a wheelchair shortly afterwards, according to Live for Live Music. Video footage captured by an attendee shows Strings lying on the ground in pain after the fall and being moved away from the stage area. One ticket holder also shared a clip of Strings performing moments before the accident. 'Missed out on the encore, but he tore the house down,' they wrote. Another fan posted a concert highlight with the caption, 'Moments before Billy Strings broke his leg.' A 911 dispatch call confirmed that an artist had suffered a broken leg, with personnel coordinating to transport Strings out of the arena discreetly. An ambulance was later seen leaving the venue bound for the UVA Medical Centre. Peers and Fans Wish for Speedy Recovery Fans flooded the comments on Strings' Instagram post with messages of support, including comedian Theo Von, who wrote, 'Heal up, champ.' Members of the band Thursday added, 'Get well soon, sir,' while others commented, 'You got this, Billy' and 'Billy, I hope it's a swift recovery.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Billy Strings (@billystrings) Strings later reassured fans that all was well despite the mishap by posting highlights from Saturday's concert. Fans praised the performances, with many urging the artist to take his time recovering. 'May your medical team get you on the path to healing. We hope for a good recovery, no matter how long it takes. We'll be here when you're ready!' one user wrote. Strings had recently posted clips of himself skateboarding, including a jump shot before night one in Charlottesville, showcasing his skill. No full video of the failed kickflip appears to be publicly available, but clips show him rolling in pain backstage. According to his official events website, Strings is still scheduled to perform sold-out shows in Charleston, West Virginia, and Fishers, Indiana. His team has yet to update fans on his condition. Strings has four events left in April, followed by two shows in Austin, Texas, in July. Career Breakout and Rise to Stardom Born William Lee Apostol in October 1992, Strings rose from a troubled Michigan childhood to bluegrass stardom. His stepfather introduced him to the genre, blending influences from rock, metal and jam bands into his virtuosic flatpicking style. He gained attention with his 2017 debut album Turmoil & Tinfoil, which pushed bluegrass boundaries with psychedelic elements. His 2019 breakthrough Home topped Billboard's Bluegrass Albums chart and won a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2021. The International Bluegrass Music Association named Strings Guitar Player of the Year in 2019. Known for high-energy live shows, he has performed with music icons including Willie Nelson and Dead & Company. He is also credited with redefining modern bluegrass, often drawing on his personal struggles with addiction in his songwriting.
meta
["meta
Taylor Frankie Paul just announced she’s been living with PTSD ... for years. "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star took to her Instagram stories Sunday with a message “for all those that assumed diagnoses” … declaring she was diagnosed…
meta
["goog
Google previews Android CLI as agentic development continues to snowball Google has introduced a new Android command-line interface built specifically for AI agents, claiming a 70 percent cut in token usage and three times reduction in task completion time.…
goog
8994194842554587545
BofA Trims Meta Platforms Price Target to $820 but Stays Bullish: Is Ad Spending Holding Up Better Than Feared?
["meta
meta
["goog
What nginx logs actually prove about AI traffic from ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, plus why Google's AI crawlers leave a different signal than the others. Google is rolling out a feature that sounds almost embarrassingly basic — the ability to hide passes stored in Google Wallet. But for the millions of users who’ve accumulated boarding passes, loyalty cards, event tickets, and transit credentials in the app, this small addition addresses a surprisingly persistent irritation. And a genuine privacy gap. The update, first spotted and reported by Android Police, introduces a “Hide pass” option accessible through the three-dot overflow menu on individual passes within Google Wallet. Once hidden, a pass disappears from the main view entirely. It doesn’t get deleted. It doesn’t lose functionality. It simply moves out of sight, retrievable through a dedicated “Hidden passes” section buried in the app’s settings. Simple enough. So why does it matter? The Clutter Problem Was Always a Privacy Problem Google Wallet has evolved from a payments-only app into a digital credential hub. It stores government IDs in some states, corporate badges, vaccination records, hotel keys, concert tickets, insurance cards, and airline boarding passes. The sheer volume of items a single user might accumulate creates two distinct problems. First, finding the right pass at the right moment — standing at a TSA checkpoint, fumbling through a stack of expired boarding passes — is genuinely frustrating. Second, and more critically, anyone glancing at your phone while you pull up a pass can see everything else you’ve got stored. That second problem is the one Google is now tackling. Consider the scenario: you open Wallet to tap your transit card on a bus, and the person standing behind you catches a glimpse of your medical insurance details, your employer’s corporate badge, or an event ticket that reveals where you’ll be this weekend. None of that information is protected by the phone’s lock screen once the app is open. The hidden passes feature creates a layer of visual separation. It’s not encryption. It’s not biometric gating. But it’s a practical acknowledgment that not every credential in your wallet needs to be front and center every time you open the app. According to Android Police’s reporting, the feature appears to be arriving via a server-side update, meaning users don’t necessarily need to download a new version of the app to access it. This is consistent with Google’s typical approach to Wallet feature rollouts — gradual, server-controlled, and sometimes maddeningly inconsistent in timing across devices and regions. The mechanics are straightforward. Tap the three-dot menu on any pass. Select “Hide pass.” The pass vanishes from your main feed. To find it again, you go into Wallet settings and look for the hidden passes section, where you can unhide anything you’ve stashed away. There’s no password protecting the hidden section itself, which means this is more about convenience and casual privacy than serious security. A determined snoop with access to your unlocked phone could still find everything. But that’s fine. That’s what biometric phone locks are for. What this feature does is prevent the incidental, over-the-shoulder exposure that happens dozens of times a day in public settings. Google Wallet’s Broader Push to Become Your Everything Holder This update doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Google has been aggressively expanding what Wallet can hold and do throughout 2024 and into 2025. Digital car keys. State-issued digital driver’s licenses, now available in a growing number of U.S. states. Corporate access badges through partnerships with companies like HID Global. Vaccine cards that stubbornly persist years after most venues stopped checking them. Each addition increases the app’s utility. Each addition also increases the sensitivity of what’s stored inside. A wallet that holds only credit cards and a Starbucks loyalty pass doesn’t raise many eyebrows when opened in public. A wallet that holds your driver’s license, health insurance card, and office building access badge is a different proposition entirely. Apple, for its part, has dealt with a similar challenge in Apple Wallet, though its approach has leaned more heavily on automatic organization and pass expiration. Apple Wallet automatically archives expired passes and uses on-device intelligence to surface the most relevant credential based on time and location — showing your boarding pass when you arrive at the airport, for instance. Google Wallet does some of this contextual surfacing too, but the hidden passes feature represents a more manual, user-driven approach to managing what’s visible. The timing of this rollout is notable. Google I/O 2025 took place in May, and among the announcements were expanded Wallet capabilities including broader ID support and new transit integrations. The hidden passes feature wasn’t a headline announcement — it’s the kind of quality-of-life improvement that ships quietly weeks later. But it reflects a growing awareness inside Google that as Wallet becomes more central to daily life, the user experience around managing sensitive credentials needs to keep pace. There’s also competitive pressure from fintech apps and specialized credential holders. Apps like Airside Digital Identity and various state-specific digital ID applications offer more granular privacy controls, including the ability to share only specific data fields from an ID rather than the entire document. Google Wallet isn’t there yet. But the hidden passes feature suggests the team is thinking about information exposure in ways it hasn’t before. One limitation worth flagging: the feature doesn’t appear to support bulk actions. If you’ve got 30 expired boarding passes cluttering your Wallet — and many frequent travelers do — you’ll need to hide them one at a time. That’s tedious. A “hide all expired” option would be an obvious next step, but it’s not available in the current rollout. And there’s still no way to organize passes into custom folders or categories, a feature users have requested for years. The hidden passes section is binary: visible or not. There’s no middle ground, no “show only when I’m at this location” granularity beyond what Google’s existing contextual suggestions provide. What This Signals About Digital Wallet Design The broader industry trend here is unmistakable. Digital wallets are no longer just payment tools. They’re becoming identity containers, and the design principles that govern them need to reflect that shift. A payment app can afford to be simple — show the cards, let the user tap. An identity container needs layers. It needs the ability to compartmentalize. It needs the digital equivalent of the physical wallet’s hidden pocket where you keep things you don’t want casually visible. Google’s hidden passes feature is a first step in that direction. A modest one. But it signals that the company recognizes the problem, which is more than could be said six months ago. For enterprise IT administrators who’ve deployed corporate badges through Google Wallet, this is a welcome development. Employees have been reluctant to store work credentials alongside personal items in an app that displays everything in a single scrollable list. The ability to hide personal passes — or work passes, depending on context — reduces that friction. For everyday users, the value proposition is simpler. Less clutter. Less accidental exposure. More control over what you see and what others might see. The feature is rolling out now, though as with most Google server-side updates, availability may vary. Check the three-dot menu on any pass in your Wallet. If you see “Hide pass,” you’re in. If not, patience. Google’s rollouts have their own timeline, and it rarely matches anyone’s expectations.
goog
7965981945372296054
Intel and Google Forge Partnership to Revolutionize AI Cloud Infrastructure
https://smallbiztrends.com/intel-and-google-forge-partnership-to-revolutionize-ai-cloud-infrastructure/
["goog
Discover how Intel and Google are teaming up to transform AI cloud infrastructure, enhancing performance, scalability, and innovation in the tech industry. The semiconductor company has strategically positioned itself across custom silicon design, optical networking solutions, and data-center connectivity platforms. The investment community is increasingly recognizing this positioning. Marvell Technology, Inc., MRVL Marvell’s fiscal 2026 performance showcased impressive momentum with revenue reaching $8.195 billion, marking a substantial 42% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. The company’s fourth quarter alone generated $2.219 billion in revenue, establishing another company record. Full-year non-GAAP diluted earnings per share reached $2.84. The primary growth driver came from data center operations. Marvell reported that its data center segment expanded 46% throughout fiscal 2026, complemented by 31% growth across communications and additional market segments. This sustained performance indicates deepening integration into AI infrastructure rather than temporary gains. Looking forward, Marvell projected first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of approximately $2.4 billion, demonstrating continued upward trajectory. The Strategic Value of Custom Silicon Development Marvell’s most compelling growth narrative centers on custom chip design services. Major cloud providers are progressively developing proprietary AI hardware instead of depending exclusively on standardized processors. Marvell has strategically positioned itself as an essential collaborator in this technological evolution. Reuters coverage in March highlighted that Marvell’s optimistic multi-year projections stemmed from robust custom AI chip demand from leading cloud infrastructure providers. Subsequently, on April 20, 2026, Reuters revealed that Alphabet’s Google is conducting negotiations with Marvell for two specialized AI chips — one focusing on memory processing capabilities and another involving advanced TPU architecture. The post AI Best Practices For Local Advertisers Using Artificial Intelligence To Inform Media Planning first appeared on Westwood One. Artificial intelligence (AI) platforms offer new ways to find information and solve problems. However, AI does not work the same as a Google search. AI requires specific methods of searching, especially when used by local advertisers to inform their media plans and buying decisions. A recent national Quantilope study of 2,000 average Americans reveals only 34% of adults 18+ use AI at work on a monthly basis. 58% have never used AI for work. Here are AI best practices for local advertisers and media sellers: Be exact: The more specific the language used, the more accurate the response; State a desired outcome like “grow awareness”, “increase sales”, or “expand my customer base” Use reputable sources within search queries to get accurate information Take careful note of sourcing and dates: Don’t take data at face value without checking it Understand that AI platforms are different: Results will vary depending on the platform Expect responses will change: Lots of factors impact the AI answers so read them carefully ChatGPT is a conversational AI assistant that can help with a wide variety of tasks ChatGPT’s tasks include: Answering questions and explaining concepts Drafting, rewriting, or summarizing content Providing creative suggestions (e.g. writing stories or ideas) Solving problems through logical reasoning Translating between languages For the busy local advertiser, it sounds like a dream. ChatGPT can answer questions, solve a targeting problem, and provide creative ideas for media plans. Here are some best practices to get accurate, usable information from ChatGPT: Be exact: The more specific the language used in a query, the more accurate the response; State a desired outcome like “grow awareness”, “increase sales”, or “expand my customer base” Asking simple questions in ChatGPT without enough context or specifics on the desired outcome can lead to unreliable results. Below are examples of prompt do’s and don’ts for achieving desired results: Use the names of reputable sources within search queries to make sure you get accurate information Instead of having to sift through multiple sources and determine their validity, including the name of a reputable source from the audio industry in the query can narrow down the answers. Tack on a source to a query: For example, use the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB). The RAB compiles all of the most up to date and relevant data about AM/FM radio advertising. “What is radio’s weekly reach according to the Radio Advertising Bureau?” ChatGPT response: “According to the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), radio’s weekly reach is 87% of Americans aged 18+. rab.com” Or use the Audio Active Group, a comprehensive marketing advisory that partners with clients to measure the impact of audio campaigns and specializes in audio creative best practices, media planning, and measurement. “What is radio’s weekly reach according to the Audio Active Group?” ChatGPT response: “According to the Audio Active Group, AM/FM radio reaches 87% of U.S. adults weekly. radioink.com” The data is linked to a trusted and current source in each instance. By including the name of a reputable company or website, you are focusing the AI on one data source with current data. ChatGPT provides quick responses to endless queries. But due to its ever-changing outputs, personalized-by-user nature, and lack of sourcing, it does not replace facts provided by syndicated data sets and real-world case studies. Take careful note of sourcing and dates carefully: Don’t take data at face value without checking it Take a relatively simple query: “What is radio’s weekly reach?” ChatGPT responds: “In the U.S., radio’s weekly reach (i.e. the number of people aged 12+ who listen to radio at least once in a typical week) is estimated at ~ 244.4 million people. Radio World That corresponds to about 92% of the U.S. population aged 12 and older. Radio World+1” While the response seems accurate, the source provided is from an out-of-date piece published in 2014. It is also important to doublecheck sources because of AI hallucinations, described by IB as an instance where “sometimes AI algorithms produce outputs that are not based on training data, are incorrectly decoded by the transformer or do not follow any identifiable pattern. In other words, it ‘hallucinates’ the response.” Verifying up to date and accurate sourcing as well as information from respected websites is an essential step in using any information provided by an AI platform. Check for the most updated data to ensure the narratives are based on current studies. Understand AI platforms are all different and results will vary depending on platform used For the purpose of this piece, the platform examined was ChatGPT. Each AI comes with their own learnings and history that can change the answers to queries. A recent study by BrightEdge compared ChatGPT and Google AI responses to the same queries. According to Digital Information World and BrightEdge, “ChatGPT recommended tools or apps people could start using right away. Google [Gemini], on the other hand, pointed to articles and online resources designed to explain a topic before any decision is made.” Expect responses will change: Lots of factors can impact the AI answers so read them carefully Many factors impact what answer an AI platform will provide. For example, responses to the same question will vary depending if the user is logged in versus logged out. Users who are logged in can use the memory feature, defined by ChatGPT as: “ChatGPT can remember useful facts you’ve shared (like your name, preferences, or goals) to personalize future responses. You can view, edit, or delete memories at any time.” As the memory feature adjusts on an individual basis, results will vary by user. Key AI best practices: Be exact: The more specific the language used, the more accurate the response; State a desired outcome like “grow awareness”, “increase sales”, or “expand my customer base” Use reputable sources within search queries to get accurate information Take careful note of sourcing and dates: Don’t take data at face value without checking it Understand that AI platforms are different: Results will vary depending on the platform Expect responses will change: Lots of factors impact the AI answers so read them carefully Bob Walker is the President of Cumulus Operations.
